Shake Sideboard
Designed By Sebastian Cox
This sideboard has a solid dovetailed ash carcass and a trio of doors made of cleft, coppiced chestnut shakes. These are skilfully split as thinly as possible to keep the doors light and full of texture. The ash frame is finished with a white oil. Also available as a cabinet.

About the designer

Special detail
Coppiced chestnut
Coppicing is an ancient form of woodland conservation and management. The process sees the same stump (usually close to ground level) being felled repetitively. This allows new shoots to develop from the main stump.
