About the designer

Terence Conran

Terence Conran is one of the world’s best known designers. He founded Benchmark with Sean Sutcliffe over 30 years ago and our workshop and showroom are situated in the grounds of his country home. He often says that Benchmark is the business that is closest to both his home and his heart.

Traditional skills

Our metal workshop is one of the most specialist in the UK. Working with non-ferrous metals such as zinc, copper, pewter & bronze, it is based on a very traditional skill set & not something that can be replicated by machine. The knowledge has simply been passed through generations from father to son, to apprentice.
