Darby Table

Name(Required)

The Darby is a celebration of wood and every table is unique and full of character. We embrace knots and splits rather than cutting them out, using traditional butterfly joints and resin to stabilise where necessary. We use sister boards for the top, which are ‘bookmarked’ to create symmetry of grain, helping to create the impression of a single plank or slice of the tree.

We offer the Darby in two standard sizes in a choice of oak, elm or walnut which we finish with a clear oil to enhance the natural tone of the timber as well as protecting from spills and stains. The legs are made from solid patinated bronze. The edge is usually left wainy but can be made with a straight edge if preferred.

Special Details

Butterfly Joint

Not all the timber will have splits but we rather like it when it does. We stabilise the split with these butterfly ties – a traditional woodworking technique. We think they are rather beautiful. Occasionally, resin will be added for extra stability but we prefer to keep it as natural as possible.
