DL 28
For DL 28, Derwent London’s second Members Lounge designed by MSMR Architects, we were commissioned to make both the joinery and loose furniture.
The principal space at ground floor level is a members lounge and cafe bar, designed with flexibility and adaptability in mind, to enable both collaborative working and socialising. The lower ground floor houses a long bar/servery, private meeting spaces and a library for quiet and autonomous working.
A timeless palette of European oak with green terrazzo and patinated bronze details provides richness and warmth throughout.
Both the boardroom and private hire rooms were designed to be flexible. Both tables were designed with the ability to expand for larger meetings, and to be easily moved for reconfiguration of the space. Made from oak and leather, the tables were made with 6 and 10 individual flip top pieces that connect together. Central units house pop up screens for video conferencing.
The lower ground floor servery counter is made with stained oak with terrazzo top and plinth and patinated brass foot rail
The material palette flows through to the library space where we made the 4m long library tables with bespoke lighting and rippled glass divider screens. The bespoke shelving and storage allows for the placements of books and objects which brings a sense of home and belonging.
Upstairs, the Members lounge is full of light. We made the curved café bar and leather upholstered seating as well as the co-working tables which include tailored versions of our Victoria Flip-top design. Here the glorious grain of the British grown ash provides a wonderful connection to nature, contributing to the overall sense of wellbeing and calm that is found throughout the space.
